@RosemaryOrchard I used Duolingo for free for years. Once I could afford to pay for it, I did, just to support the developers. But I have to say that for what you get with the paid version, it is amazingly cheap. I use the Spanish program and have worked about halfway through in the past three years studying every day. I live in Mexico in a town were few people speak english. My Spanish is functional now, but I am well on the way to being conversational.
I have absolutely no talent for learning languages. I am 62 years old and have used just about every program there is to try to learn Spanish; Berlitz LPs, Pimsleur tapes, Rosetta Stone, Babble, Memrise and actual language school, with very little success.
Duolingo is best and cheapest. Over the years they have been constantly updating the program. I just noticed that they how have section where you listen to conversation and answer questions and repeat things when asked. It is very good for when you are walking. It does use voice recognition, and has recently added a function where it notes words you have pronounced wrong and singles them out to give you a second change to say them.
I really admire your three languages. Hopefully I will live long enough to add a third one to my repertoire. (I am working on Croatian, but as of yet it is not on Duolingo.)
