International Virtual Card Provider

Needing to make regular purchases at US merchants and looking for a virtual credit card. I’ve signed up for halocard which looks promising and currently on the waitlist. Most people mention privacy but it’s only available to US residents with an SSN. Any recommendations on privacy.com alternatives for virtual card providers outside the US?

Halocard seems kind of expensive to me at almost $100US a year for only 50 virtual cards while they hold your money on deposit and yet pay no interest.

KYC rules have really tampered down options here. I would have recommended Uphold.com but they appear to have restricted their cards to US citizens as well.

What card provider do you use currently? My AMEX doesn’t charge for international purchases. Are you trying to avoid fees?

How is that dissimilar to most card offerings at existing banks. which don’t support provisioning any virtual cards anyway? I agree a free tier would be nice, but is there an alternative provider you can recommend that’s free and available outside the US?

Trying to make purchases at US merchants who require a US-based credit card. My existing (non-US) credit cards are often rejected or fail when purchasing US services, along with charging a foreign exchange fee.

Thanks for recommending Uphold, although it looks like a crypto exchange, whereas I’m looking for a virtual card provider.

Uphold is an exchange that will issue you a virtual Mastercard. Great way to move funds across borders with minimal hassle. Except for their new US-only rule :upside_down_face:

I don’t know about where you come from, but for me, basic credit cards (other than premium ones with premium features like life insurance and what not) are free. Granted I don’t think many offer virtual cards, but I think that’s a feature a bank backed card could offer at no extra charge by taking it out of the 3%-5% they take out of every transaction already.

I’ve never looked into the current features of Wise but they used to offer debit like cards I thought, but I don’t think most US businesses support debit. You’d be better off with Paypal for that probably.
