Mr @Leo you mentioned you didnt have an interest in getting the new Meta glasses in its current version. What WOULD compel you to buy the glasses? Sure the ones announced had a horrible time in the live demo, but one would assume the bugs would be worked out soon. You just didnt sound interested in em for now.

Hope you’re doing well, sir. :orange_heart::green_heart::heart:

I first came across George Calin and his 7 dirty words when I was in my late 20s. I lived in the UK, and if you will excuse the “profanity”, we use the word “pissing” to describe the weather or any liquid escaping from its containment from childhood on, it isn’t, or in the 70s through 90s as I was growing up, a “dirty” word.

In the late 90s I was on a CompuServe forum for motorbikes that was international and I was talking about the automatic chain oiler on my bike and how the adjustment wasn’t working properly and it was p’ing oil all over the back tyre, which can be dangerous, as you only have that one small piece of rubber in contact with the road.

I then got censured by an American user who said, “you can’t use the Calin 7 on this forum!” He thought I was taking the p’ when I said innocently asked, “what is the Calin 7.” He went on a rant, but George Calin had never appeared on any TV program or on the radio that I saw or listened to as I was growing up, I had never heard of the Calin 7 and they had to send me a link to some obscure website (the was pre-Wikipedia). I thanked the guy and promised to keep the list in mind going forward.

He didn’t hold it against me, when we had a meet-up a couple of years later (the biker forum used to have international meet-ups every year and he flew over for the “Not the New Year’s” party, which a dear friend used to run on the last weekend in January, in Liverpool in England and became friends, although we lost touch when Compu$pend later fell apart.

But it just shows how much cultures differ around the world, one school kid’s normal word for describing the weather is another’s obscenity.

I don’t think pissing is an obscenity or ever was one in my view but I understand your point. It is interesting the cultural differences in language or other things.
