How to transfer one app from one ipad to another ipad?

Hello, how can I transfer one app from one ipad to another ipad? I tried to air drop the app from one ipad to the othere ipad
but this failed because the app is no longer in the App Store.

Note, the app is no longer in the App Store however I did make a itunes backup of the ipad that contains the app that I want to transfer.

Thank you

It’s my understanding that each iPad has a unique ID that the install of any app is tied to. I doubt there is anything you can do if you can’t re-download it from the app store.

Probably only restoring the destination iPad with the backup of the source iPad, which seems a little extreme, unless it is a replacement.

Yep I considered that but this is not a replacement ipad and I only want that one app.

On the other iPad, are you able to find it in ‘My Purchases’ in the App Store app? I’ve done that before and downloaded an old app that wasn’t in the store.

I thought it was linked to your Apple ID, not the device?

https://help.apple.com/pdf/security/en_US/apple-platform-security-guide.pdf This is a long and detailed document, which is likely to make pretty dry reading, but I bet their are more details in there. I’ll quote one section, which mentions the uniqueness of IDs but also claims Apple doesn’t have access to it directly… They clearly don’t want anyone to know exactly how they use the security measures.
