HOT 229: Streaming Videos on a Hotel TV

Beep boop - this is a robot. A new show has been posted to TWiT…

What are your thoughts about today’s show? We’d love to hear from you!

I know that bringing a HDMI cable so you could connect your phone/tablet to a hotel TV was mentioned, but why wasn’t it mentioned that most laptops these days have a way to connect directly to a TV’s HDMI connection? While more cumbersome to carry around than a phone, if you are bringing a laptop anyways, that is a viable solution as well. Also, with a lot of rather powerful mini PCs being as compact and/or affordable as an Apple TV, that could work as well. Granted, you would need to bring a mouse and keyboard (or a keyboard with a touch pad) with as well, it’s not too much more burdensome as an Apple TV, especially if you get one of those portable keyboards (like the kind that is about the size of an old-school candy bar phone, with a tiny touch pad on the side) that definitely are not great for productivity, but sufficient to setup a network connection and can be used from across the room if you want to lay in the bed.
