Doesn’t really matter - I will buy the 14"MBP and the “Pro” Mini whenever they come out anyway!
@Leo Heading into November and we’ve gotten the updated MacBook Pro 14 and 16. No updated Mini, iMac Pro, or Mac Pro. It feels like the updated desktop computers are not coming until the spring.
I think you’re right. Apple seems to have a cadence of M chip releases. They took our breath away with the M1 Pro and Max - I suspect that they want that to sink in before they show the desktop chips. Expect yet another massive jump in performance. It’s really quite amazing.
This all makes sense. It looks like Mac releases may fall into a pattern like iPhone/iPad, Autumn for one, Spring for the other. I’ll bet MacBooks sell better at the holidays that desktops, too.
Whatever Apple would want to do, they are likely feeling impact of supply constraints on chips, so introducing more models with different chip is probably a challenge. M1 Pro and Pro Max are essentially the same chip design and the MacBook Pros share many other components that would not be in Mac Mini or iMac or Pro.
I think that’s exactly right. Any predictions we’d normally make are going to miss the mark due to the unpredictable supply chain. All we can do is hope!
Did you see that GM is removing the heated seat option for its vehicles due to the chip shortage??
Wow. What’s next? Tesla removing battery for chip shortage? LOL
