Sorry for your loss and your niece I hope she recovers But with all due respect That is a pathetic excuse and reason to use Facebook. Back in the day we all got the word out just as quickly with this device we call a phone. Trust me all the people that need to know would have been contacted Including you. This is the problem everybody thinks they need Facebook to do the things that we used to do without Facebook with no problem Sorry but Facebook is evil. And as long as you keep using them they will keep being evil.

Oh man - I am very sorry to read this and I hope that she gets better, soon! It is curious how little you can say in such circumstances that the other person does not already know. Just know that what your family is going through right now even feels numbing and dumbfounding half way around the earth, to a complete stranger.
May facebook be facebook. It’s impressive how far both levels of discussion are apart - except for one being an example of use for the other one.
On the general subject of “facebook has got to go”: I almost became weak these days. Joined a walking group who does their weekly rounds in our park (it’s about as exciting as it sounds, but it’s very friendly and a change, too). Everyone is on WhatsApp, I am not (no facebook properties for me). And it is a slight pain to be the one person in a new group who opposes a common tool for communication. To many people, this is like saying “I don’t believe in telephones”. “So how do we call you?” “Well, there’s this telephone alternative, the plonkyphone, on which you can reach me.” … Just sets you up immediately as the odd one out. Which I know I should care less about, but if you’re up to get to know new people, that kind of makes your mission that much harder.
