Utterly incensed about the NACS charging situation. We HAVE a standard already! Changing the connector from CCS to NACS will not magically make these battery charging teething issues go away. As Sam stated, the stewards of these charging stations are the main issue - do we think EA and EV Go will behave better because the connector is a different shape? Tesla needs to get with the program, not the other way around. They made the mistake of choosing not to participate in standards development.
I also don’t believe Sam’s assertion that the charging infrastructure will spring up locations which subsidize the electric supply - the math simply doesn’t work out. The customer turnover rate at a petrol station allows that subsidization to happen (ever been to a busy station where the person fueling their car leaves it unattended at the pump to go shopping? - the nerve!), which isn’t possible given the comparatively slow rate of battery charging. Stations will need a field of chargers to try and meet that scale, but associated costs will go up as well (land ain’t cheap, nor are massive DC electric components).
