It doesn’t surprise me. There was a big scandal at the turn of the decade, with Apple being about 6 months behind Sun, Microsoft and Linux in issuing security updates for the Java runtime - as in, bugs reported to Sun, Sun fixes the bugs and issues the source code changes to its partners, everybody, except Apple, publishes a fixed version of Java… After 6 months of not bothering to patch the security holes, Apple were pressured into finally releasing the updates.
