AAA 519: Goodbye LG, Hardly Knew Ye

Beep boop - this is a robot. A new show has been posted to TWiT…

What are your thoughts about today’s show? We’d love to hear from you!

I got annoyed with them when trying to update an unlocked phone. LG only supplies updates to carriers and they all chose to only push to their model phones, not the unlocked ones. So an unlocked LG phone will never see any updates, making them useless if you care anything about security.

Good riddance LG.

I just remember them having a worthy Samsung competitor the year before the modular “friends” - then the V line had a lot of juice but after that it was just a more expensive afterthought.

I will always love them for their inventiveness in the days before smartphones. They made some amazing “feature phones”. I still have some squirreled away - the original Chocolate with its “invisible” touch controls, the super-glossy tiny credit-card sized KE820, and the slightly insane HB620T - a flip phone with a built in digital TV tuner and a tiny pull-out aerial. That one worked surprisingly well in the UK, although obviously viewing was limited on a 2" screen. :joy:
