@ronxo, @ohthatflo , @JasonHowell the irritation with the Android Auto head units not connecting / freezing:
I have a Nissan with a smart (non-Android, non-Apple) head unit. When it stops talking to my phone, I found that the usual handset / PC trick works. You don’t need to turn off the car, get out and lock it and unlock it again. Try just pressing and holding the power switch on the head unit for 10 seconds.
That forces my unit to do a reset and reboot itself, then re-connect with my phone. Annoying, but better than having to stop and get out of the vehicle.
