I hate the new Outlook. There’s currently a bug only facing me where the Calendar “week” view is completely broken (doesn’t show any of my current events, and the “Today” button goes to last week, not today / this week) and all the other views work. It’s terrible. I miss Classic Outlook on Windows (because I use a Mac for work now)
New outlook has got to be the most frustrating thing that Microsoft has ever done to the administrative field. Context - I started out as a receptionist way back when, and am MS certified in multiple outlook versions that I used heavily throughout my whole career.
I’d rather look at email and calendar only on my cell phone than have to use new outlook on my PC.
They removed the calendar layover feature, which is actually vital for that profession to track multiple executives in real time. Even now as a consultant I find myself swearing at its inability to overlay my multiple calendars.
I totally understand Outlook power users hating the Webview version and I sympathize. But for someone like myself who only uses the program for basic email it’s a huge performance improvement over the old native client.
This feels like Windows 8 all over again - Microsoft has created a great product that doesn’t meet the needs of the top 20% of the userbase. They need two separate products.
I do like it more than the old Mac native version, which is why I’m using it but I still don’t like it compared to the older native Windows version.
It’s fine and serviceable. It works with our encrypted email system. The Calendar bug I’m experiencing is hopefully not the new normal. I just also don’t like the idea that I’m using a Web version. It’s the principal that bothers me most of all haha
I am with you. We use Microsoft 365 at work, so the email is run throug MS servers anyway, so I have no problems using the client there, but I wouldn’t use it for non-Microsoft mail services.
I use Proton Mail at home, with my own domain, and use the Proton Mail app on the phone, but the PM app for macOS is dreadful, you can’t even move the new mail window outside the Proton Mail container, so you can’t write an email, whilst referencing older emails, for example, or drag just the new email window onto the bigger display to make writing easier. Even New Outlook is better than that! But instead, I use the Proton Bridge and Thunderbird.
ever since Sparrow(and a brief stint with AirMail) disappeared a loooong time ago, I’ve always just been using Gmail on the web. And on my phone/iPad I just use the gmail app. I’m very much not an email power user unless I’m at work.
