TWIG 552: Graduate Nerdalism

The kind of direct mic-ing we do @macphyle is always going to provide the best sound. And for me (maybe it’s my radio background) audio is most important. The majority of our audience listens and never sees the mics. And for those who do it’s a very clear trademark. In fact, these days, when you see a microphone in any TV shot it screams podcaster!

I’d venture that TWiT has among the best audio in podcasting - it’s always been one of our trademarks.

And incidentally they use shotgun mics on movies because they want you to believe what you’re watching is “real.” We really are real, and live, and close mic-ed! Most movie audio is fixed in the dubbing room later anyway.
