# Terms of Service Updates for September?

I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s been getting emails from the likes of Spotify, Discord, and others about ToS updates going into effect at the end of this month. But the fact that I’m getting all of these at once suggests some new US regulation going into place.

Anyone have any ideas what’s going on?

If one pastes your query to ChatGPT, [it gives a thoroughly competent explanation](https://chatgpt.com/share/68b97348-0cec-800a-85dd-7c62a1cb41e3). There are new state laws in Minnesota and Maryland (and others). Discord notes changes in the UK’s Online Safety Act. Changes don’t appear related to any US federal changes. The AI notes active discussion of your question on Reddit.
