We all have different circumstances in life. Maybe you’re lucky and things went your way… maybe you’re a stronger person and you suffered in silence.
I take Andy’s predicament as a comment on the future economy. All of these poor people with a specific skill set who are supporting the gig economy are gonna be up sh*t creek sooner than later when the bottom of this house of cards crumbles. On this basis, I have great empathy and pity for many people.
I can’t speak for Andy, but I for one take it much less personally from him than you seem to. He seems to me to be bringing it up as an object lesson more than anything else. I wonder whether or not your reaction has to do with your distaste for the process you’ve been through.
I just had a chance to watch the episode and see what all the fuss was. I for one loved the conversation between Andy and Alex. I might not agree with everything they said but I appreciate their take on the subject and found the discussion as a whole refreshing. I know some people’s political feathers were ruffled but let’s look at the fact we have shows that can express varying views without censorship. We have the ability to share our views and we should celebrate that over attacking the person saying something we don’t agree with.
Lori geese are fluffy and probably deserve to be kicked since they are so mean. Just saying
I would hate to think anything I’ve articulated in criticism of Alex’s statements and views were construed instead to be personal attack. I can say with confidence I would have responded no differently whether or not it had come from a complete stranger, other than knowing his professional background (aside from which, he is still a stranger, to me). I bothered to articulate a rebuttal here because of its being a show others see as well. As important as it is to appreciate that we can exchange ideas freely, what those ideas are and the outcomes they lead us to, not least being who has access to the means of sharing theirs, I think has to remain much more important.
P. S. I recommend playing Untitled Goose Game and failing at it intentionally to work out any aggression you may feel toward geese; leave the animals be Lori didn’t seem aggressive toward them at all, and I think her impulse to kick them is like wanting to squeeze Charmin, or something like that, maybe blow on a dandelion and watch the puffs fly away like feathers might if a goose was kicked, not the expression of combativeness or displeasure you seem to attach to the gesture.

YOUR ps made me laugh so hard I spit my coffee out
Whether that’s sarcasm or not, I can’t tell for sure from here, but in Lori’s defense, I don’t think she needed it. It was Alex who seemed to have it in for them, but even he just seemed to regard them as a nuisance, rather than something to attack, in any way.
Absolutely agree. And those articles (esp the opening paragraphs of the WP one)…I’m not even an urban Millennial, and I’m shook. House of cards, indeed.
It’s also a good counter-point to others on the panel. Many of us are financially constrained for various reasons. Andy (and Flo actually) often use their own personal situations to back this up. Fine by me.
There were moments when it felt like “Statler and Waldorf phone in to talk radio…”
Edited to say no disrespect intended, just amused by what is probably a host’s nightmare: the moment when a couple of guests get the bit between their teeth and bolt off in a random direction.
