Hyped!!! I was listening live, but I got injured today so I fell asleep. I woke up and realized I should just wait for the VOD. I know y’all didn’t announce Alex’s replacement yet, but I’m waiting with batted (baited?) breathe
Listening to the talk on what AI should be and how Apple should integrate AI into the iPhone, as opposed to just providing a chatbot (I agree with this), it reminded me of WindowsPhone, this is exactly what Microsoft was trying at the time, not with AI, but with the phone experience, you didn’t need to use 3rd party apps for things, you used the phone to do it.
If you wanted to look at photos, you went into the phone’s Photos app and all your photos, from Facebook, Instagram, camera reel, chat etc. were all in one hub, you didn’t need to worry about where they came from, they were all in photos. Obviously, the rest of the industry hated it, because you didn’t have to start Facebook or Insta to get to the phots, so they couldn’t “trap” you in the app.
I hope that Apple can pull off that sort of integration, but I can see Meta, Uber & Co. bellyaching to regulators about it…

Regarding F1, as Leo says, it was alright, but nothing special. I think Frankenheimer did it better in the 60s with Grand Prix. In fact, F1 felt like a cheap remake.

Haven’t watched this episode yet. I usually catch up over the weekend. Grand Prix is a great movie! Lemans with Steve McQueen is really good too.

Shelly was absolutely great! I don’t know who you have in mind to replace Alex, @Leo , but Shelly would be great. Her comments and insight were so spot on - and I really enjoyed the interplay she had with Jason and Andy.
Yes, another great motor sport film. Did you know James Garner did a lot of his own driving in Grand Prix - and was responsible for selecting the Trans Am (the exact models) in Rockford Files, as well as doing most of his own driving, he was also a racer and had his own team at one time as well.
If you are interested, the “And Colossally, that’s History” podcast did a special on the Grand Prix film.
Once she was settled in, she was great, in the first third of the show, she didn’t really know how to get a word in edge ways, I think. Probably intimidating, coming onto such a show, where regulars know each other and talk over each other a lot.
Certainly having her insights into design and accessibility were really good and she was a great counterpoint to Alex’s usual views.

I remember reading about how Garner would out run the helicopter filming him driving the TransAm when they were on location with a long straight stretch of road.
